We fell in love with the coffee from the Gachatha Farmer Cooperative Society and factory near Othaya town in Nyeri County. About 1100 farmers, each averaging about 200 trees, deliver cherry from nine different zones to Gachatha. Their coffee grows in soil with a deep fluorescent orange color. The co-op separates and weighs the cherry at the factory, depulps it, ferments it dry for 1-2 days, washes, then soaks it overnight. They dry and sort the parchment on raised beds.
