Jember

Jember

Jember, or S795, is a relative of the Typica varietal which was brought to Indonesia via India. Jember originated in Ethiopia. It may have developed more in Yemen before proceeding to India and finally Indonesia. The varietal is commonly referred to as Jember by Indonesian farmers since it was distributed to them by members of the Jember Coffee Research center in Surabaya, Indonesia’s 2nd largest city located in Eastern Java. We still have plenty to learn about S795/Jember. Through our cuppings of coffees from Sulawesi, we are able to distinguish distinct sugar browning notes of caramel, maple syrup and brown sugar itself.

  • Laden with aromas of blackberry compote and tamarind, this cup has flavors of plum, blackberry, toffee and earth, finishing sweetly with buttery caramel.
