Villalobos is a mutation of the Bourbon variety developed in Costa Rica. It resembles Typica in that the branches form at a 60 degree angle from the tree’s body and has bronzed colored leaves. Villalobos produces very well at higher altitudes, is extremely resistant to wind and even produces well in nutrient deprived soils. Optimum quality is thought to be obtained in well shaded regions. Villalobos is known for its outstanding sweetness and fine acidity.
